I just got back from Lofoten in the north of Norway—it was a great trip, and I was relieved that just renting a car worked well in winter rather than going on an organized tour. Here are a few of the images I came back with. It was all very dependent on the weather though, with some areas covered by a foot of snow one day which was washed away the next. Notionally the sun rose from the polar night half way through the trip, but the first I saw of it from behind all the cloud was on the drive to the airport on the last day. There is a map of the locations I visited here, and larger versions of some images on my Flickr and Instagram pages. I used Cody Duncan's guide to Lofoten in Winter when planning the trip—highly recommended!
